Just a note -- I don't check this page as often as I might; if you're in a hurry for an answer, e-mail me or drop a message on my English, Esperanto, or French wiki talk pages, which I check more regularly.

Great job Brion! Another Wiki gets converted. This one is live, no? --mav

Yes, it lives! And this time I remembered to create the log files... --Brion VIBBER
Coolness. --mav

Thank you for helping us clean up after that vandal. I will promote some more users to sysop as soon as possible, so we can get a vandal like that stopped faster next time.

Do you know if he has some kind of script ? It looked like a very deliberate, fast and systematic attack ?

Christian List 4. Dec 2002 kl.14:40 (CET)

Yes, it seems to be someone playing with a script; they've hit the French, meta, German, and Esperanto wikis a couple times as well. Let me know who wants to be sysop, I'll gladly pop them in the list. --Brion VIBBER 4. Dec 2002 kl.18:44 (CET)
I have already added BrianHansen as a sysop, he is so far the only one who has wanted it :-) I think they want some administrators on the swedish Wikipedia after they saw what happened here, I know Dan Koehl has been asking how to become administrator over there. Christian List 4. Dec 2002 kl.20:35 (CET)
Sounds bad. I was thinking about the possibilty of a script which automatically stops an IP adress of someone changing more than 10 files within 10 minutes, something very unlikely to do for a normal user. And when, such an action could be in cooperation with a sysop, who could give "clear light" to the system tp let the contributer go on. Does this sounds wise? (fire most with fire be handled) Dan Koehl
We've been kicking over ideas on rate limits on the mailing lists, for instance in the intlwiki-l thread 'New vandal bot attack'. Nothing's firmly decided yet, but it's a tricky issue of how to get something like this right. --Brion VIBBER 5. Dec 2002 kl.10:32 (CET)

Gian Giacomo Geronimo Casanova redigér

Dear friend, I'm Adriano from it.wiki. I wrote the article about Giacomo Casanova in it.wiki. I studied Casanova'life for thirty years and I'm sure that the real name was Giacomo Gerolamo Casanova or shortly as in other wiki articles Giacomo Casanova not Gian Giacomo Geronimo Casanova. So the heading of the dansk article is wrong. I wrote on the discussion the birth act of Casanova and if you want I can show the picture of the original act taken in Venice. The swedish too made a mistake: they named him Giovanni Giacomo. At last they corrected the name.

Thank you
Adriano

+incategory search redigér

Hi Brion,

I am trying to use the new +incategory search keyword. It does work if I write +incategory:"Blå blomster" in the search field, but not if I write +incategory:"Flerårige urter". Note that both contain a space and danish letter å.

Ideas?

  • "Flerårige urter" is a more recent category - maybe some behind-the-scenes database is not updated (or not updated correctly)
  • "Flerårige urter" was created by a bot (category.py I assume) by renaming a previous category "Stauder" to "Flerårige urter" (I realize, if this is the problem it might imply the first problem...)

Now it works --Honymand 15. dec 2008, 22:39 (CET)
