Fue el primer campo de concentración nazi abierto en Alemania con el propósito de retener a prisioneros políticos. Más tarde se utilizó también para trabajos forzosos y después para retener a disidentes judíos, alemanes y austríacos, hasta que finalmente alojaría también a prisioneros de otros países ocupados. Cuando las tropas de los EE.UU. se aproximaron al campamento el 27 de abril de 1945, los oficiales de las SS al cargo ordenaron el asesinato de 4.000. Las ventanas y las puertas de las barracas se apuntalaron para después rociarlas con gasolina y prenderles fuego. Documentos constan el asesinado de 32.000 personas pero se desconoce la cifra total.
English: Gas chamber of the Dachau concentration camp, Dachau, near Munich, Germany. It was the first of the Nazi concentration camps opened in Germany, intended to hold political prisoners. Its purpose was enlarged to include forced labor, and eventually, the imprisonment of Jews, German and Austrian criminals, and later foreign nationals from countries that Germany occupied or invaded. As U.S. Army troops neared the Dachau sub-camp at Landsberg on 27 April 1945, the SS officer in charge ordered that 4,000 prisoners be murdered. Windows and doors of their huts were nailed shut. The buildings were then doused with gasoline and set afire. There were 32,000 documented deaths at the camp, and thousands that are undocumented.
Polski: Komora gazowa obozu koncentracyjnego Dachau koło Monachium, w Niemczech. Był to pierwszy nazistowski obóz koncentracyjny w Niemczech, założony w celu przetrzymywania więźniów politycznych. Później wykorzystywano go także jako źródło pracy przymusowej, do osadzania Żydów, niemieckich i austriackich przestępców oraz cudzoziemców z krajów okupowanych przez Niemcy. Gdy 27 kwietnia 1945 roku wojska amerykańskie zbliżyły się do podobozu Dachau w Landsbergu, dowodzący oficer SS wydał rozkaz zamordowania 4000 więźniów. Okna i drzwi ich baraków zostały zabite gwoździami, a następnie budynki zostały oblane benzyną i podpalone. W dokumentacji obozowej odnotowano prawie 32 000 zgonów, ale całkowita liczba ofiar nie jest dokładnie znana.
