After the release of their widely acclaimed debut album, “Bless You”, in 2008, Lulu Rouge quickly emerged as one of the most loved and respected producer teams in Northern Europe. The Danish duo has blessed everyone with their fusion of techno and dub that has the gritty melancholy of the Scandinavian winter, while the bass is so deep and heavy it makes the ground rumble.
Their tracks are featured on more than 100 compilations and are licensed to high profile adverts as well as prime time TV shows like American HBO show ‘Eastbound’ and English 'Top Gear'. And their long remix credits include Trentemøller, Groove Armada, Bomb The Bass and Moby.
Over two turbulent years the duo, consisting of Torsten Jacobsen and Thomas Bertelsen (aka Buda & T.O.M.) has certainly stepped up the ladder of recognition throughout Europe. “Bless You” received a wave of blinding reviews and top scores by critics across the board. And fans were equally thrilled by the sound and joined the Lulu’s on a long series of successful DJ sets and live performances at festivals all over the continent – Roskilde, 10 Days Off, Sonar, Copenhagen Distortion, Bread and Butter, Eurosonic, Amsterdam Dance Event and even Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
Another important part of the Lulu Rouge identity is their constant stream of legendary edits and bootleg mixes made available through blogs like tracealine.com, palmsout.com & fatberris.com. Edits custom made for each of their famous DJ sets, that never feature any tracks in their original form. They will only play these extremely effective edits, creating a totally unique experience every time they go behind the decks, never repeating the same set twice.
As a live act their sound really comes to its right elements with their famous heavy bass sound flooding the room. The line up includes live drums, bass, keyboards, computers, and sampled as well as live vocals. Add to that loads of visuals and tracks that are remade and re-arranged, leaving space for improvisation from the live musicians and creating a new experience every time.
For the release of their next album, Lulu Rouge have decided to look for a new label from where they can continue to grow and release their uncompromising sound. But for now Lulu Rouge promise to keep their focus on the music with no intentions of slowing down, neither in the studio, on stage or in the clubs. And with the demand for the Lulu sound not likely to end anytime soon they haven’t got time to slow down anything except maybe the tempo of their next melancholic opus.
The second album from Lulu Rouge is planned for a 2011 release
