Linje 227:
What does avangnardlek mean? As in Narssak avangnardlek og Kagssimiut on this page. I haven't found avangnardlek in any online dictionary. Narssak and Kagssimiut are place names, but avangnardlek obviously not, as it is written in lower case. Greetings from the de-WP,--Ratzer (diskussion) 15. nov 2016, 12:22 (CET)

:It simply means north in the old 1851-1973 orthography (devised by Samuel Kleinschmidt). The modern post-1973 spelling is avannarleq (as in Amerika Avannarleq = North America). The online dictionaries all use the new orthography. You can often try dropping some g's & d's and switching k to q (as in Narssak to Narsaq) to figure out roughly what the modern spelling might be.--Batmacumba (diskussion) 15. nov 2016, 19:48 (CET)
