Ibn Sina blev født i [[Kharmaithen]] (i det nuværende [[Usbekistan]]), som hørte ind under [[Persien]], og han døde i [[Hamadan]], ligeledes under [[Persien]] (i dag: [[Iran]]). Mange forfattere mener, at han i virkeligheden var tadsjiker fra [[Balkh]]).
