Thank you very much, all very interesting. I have to work through it slowly, get it translated piece by piece. The article [[Grønlands Landsråd]] says, as far as I understand it, that the administrative bodies for North Greenland (Upernavik to Egedesminde) and South Greenland (Holsteensborg to Julianshaab) were created in 1908 (with a reform in 1925 when the administrator was called ''Landsfoged''). But are those not the same as the subdivision into ''North Inspectorate'' and ''South Inspectorate'', as mentioned in [https://archive.org/stream/polarworldapopu02hartgoog#page/n498/mode/2up this English-language book] for as early as 1855? What were the original Danish terms for ''North Inspectorate'' and ''South Inspectorate''?
:The north/south division of the Greenlandic west coast is fairly old dating back to 18th century practices, but not sure when it was formalized. I wonder whether this is the earliest population statistics of Greenland. Somewhere these numbers should be available by municipality. As a matter of fact, early population statistics could be a source for the names of the original 62 municipalities. I shall ask Statistics Denmark for those statistics (as Statistics Greenland was created not before 1989).
